Levenshulme Old Library AGM 2024

Join us for our eighth Annual General Meeting on Saturday 28th September, 4pm-6pm.

You’re Invited to Our Annual General Meeting, where we’ll celebrate our achievements from the past 12 months and look ahead to the future.

This is our annual community catch-up, where we come together to reflect on the year’s successes and milestones. It’s a chance for us to share the achievements we’ve made, celebrate our collective efforts, and enjoy some well-deserved festivities with our community.

We’re delighted to have delicious refreshments courtesy of Sips ‘n’ Dips to make the evening even more enjoyable.

Additionally, this AGM will be a special occasion as we unveil our new Members Programme. This is your chance to get involved, contribute your ideas, and help shape our future. Membership is free, and you can join one or more of our new groups: Community, Heritage, and Arts.

Membership – Your Chance to Get Involved

This year’s AGM also marks the launch of our new Members Programme!

For the past year we’ve been recruiting members. Anyone who lives in Levenshulme can become a member – it’s free to join and this month we’re unveiling a new way of running our operations which aims to embed the community in our decision making via our membership.

Later this year we’ll begin hosting regular meetings with our community where we can inform them of our operations, our plans and the challenges we face, via three different Membership Groups each looking at a key strand of the work we do.

Community
We want to give our community the opportunity to foster local connections and engagement. We’re keen to hear from our members about their ideas for making this happen. If you have ideas for events, activities or opportunities that could strengthen residents’ ties within the neighbourhood and contribute to community development and well-being, we want to hear from you.

Heritage
If you’re interested in celebrating and conserving the rich history of Levenshulme Old Library and the wider area, this is the group for you! LOL was founded to preserve and renovate our Carnegie library building. We also work to engage our community with Levenshulme’s heritage and history. But what can we do to improve our building? How can we better celebrate our shared heritage?

Arts
Our building was built to provide cultural enrichment to the local community and, although it’s no longer a library, that founding mission is something we remain committed to and the arts is at the heart of everything we do. But what artistic activities does the community want? Are there challenges the neighbourhood faces which could be addressed via creative projects? What does artistic success look like and how can we measure it?

As a member, you’re able to join any of these groups, or all of them (or none of them!)

Membership is free, and we encourage everyone to join and get involved in shaping our future.

The AGM will last around an hour, and we’re looking forward to welcoming both existing and new members. Come along, celebrate our successes, and discover the benefits of being part of our vibrant community.

To propose any motions for discussion, please email them to hello@levenshulmeoldlibrary.org.uk by Friday 13th September.

Join us for an engaging and enjoyable afternoon, and become a member to take full advantage of what we have to offer!
