NEW TRUSTEES WANTED

Are you passionate about community arts and ready to make a real impact?

Levenshulme Old Library CIO is looking for new trustees to help steer us through an exciting period of growth and change. If you can offer a few hours a month and believe in the power of local culture to bring people together, we’d love to hear from you.

Why Now?

We’re working towards a Community Asset Transfer (CAT) with Manchester City Council, which will give us long-term security over our building and open up new opportunities to finally invest in the space. This is an exciting but complex process but it requires people with the skills and experience to join us and help guide us through. Strengthening the board now will help ensure Levenshulme Old Library is in the strongest possible position for the future.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re particularly keen to strengthen our board with trustees who have:

  • Experience negotiating with Manchester City Council – especially regarding leases, community asset transfers or estate matters.
  • Finance or accounting expertise – from budgeting to financial oversight, management accounts, cash flow or strategic finance.
  • A background in architecture or construction – to help us shape the physical space.
  • A sound understanding in creative community ventures – helping up bring bold ideas and inclusive energy to Levenshulme.

We’ll also welcome general trustees who share our values and trust in learning on the job.

What It Means to Be a Trustee at LOL

  • Participate in strategic decision-making and help us shape the future of our space and programming.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow trustees, staff and partners to uphold strong governance.
  • Support and represent LOL externally – whether that’s with funders, local authorities or within the community.
  • Commit to a minimum of around 2 hours per month, with additional expectations for the Chair role.

Trustees make vital contributions not just in meetings, but also as ambassadors and sounding boards for our staff team. Even if you’re not ready for a leadership role, your voice and involvement matter.

Interested? What to Do Next

Our official trustee recruitment will align with the AGM, giving the board a chance to confirm new trustees and discuss chairing options. If we don’t yet have a confirmed AGM date, we’ll update everyone soon.

In the meantime, take the first step:

You can find full details of the role here and download an application form here.

Recruitment is ongoing but the posts will be officially appointed at the AGM later this year. Informal conversations can be arranged at a mutually convenient time for you to find out more and ask any questions.

If you do have any questions about the role and the recruitment process, or for a physical copy of the application pack, please contact Richard on 07445970758 or richard@levenshulmeoldlibrary.org.uk.
