Growing Together at Levenshulme Old Library

This September, our Studio will be filled with the colours, textures and stories of Levenshulme’s allotments. Growing Together Levenshulme is a community garden with a difference: it’s not just about cultivating food, but about nurturing people. The project brings neighbours together — many of them refugees and people seeking asylum — to grow vegetables, share skills and, just as importantly, to support one another.

Alongside the digging and planting, Growing Together also run creative sessions. Art has become a way for participants to reflect on their experiences, explore ideas of home and belonging, and celebrate the friendships formed through gardening. The exhibition at Levenshulme Old Library is a chance to see that creativity made visible — to witness what can grow when people are given the space to feel safe, welcome and inspired.

Visitors will find an exhibition rooted in community: work shaped by the seasons, by shared meals on the allotment, and by the sense of pride that comes from growing something together. It’s a reminder that gardens don’t just produce food — they also grow confidence, creativity and connection.

We’re delighted to host Growing Together in our Studio space and invite everyone to come along, meet the team, and enjoy the work on display. Entry is free, and everyone is welcome.
