Levenshulme Old Library

Pipistrello by Ella Sprakarn

Happy Halloween!

We have a spooky treat for you. Pipistrello is a short story recently commissioned for the inaugural issue of Lost Levenshulme, our new publication exploring local landscape, lore and heritage, which you can now listen to as part of our Ghosts at the Old Library podcast series.

Pipistrello unfolds on the familiar paths of the Fallowfield Loop, the former railway line which runs through Manchester which now serves as a popular footpath. A night walk leads an ecologist and a group of students into the heart of something eerily familiar and deeply uncanny as Matt, reluctantly roped into leading a bat-watching excursion on an October evening soaked in rain and restless memories, discovers what starts as a slightly damp, disappointing nature walk soon giving way to something far darker.

Written and read by Ella Sprakarn, Pipistrello is perfect for your Halloween evening. Listen on Spotify now.
