Levenshulme Old Library

Levolution! The End

3pm, Saturday 16th September

We’re bringing our Levolution! exhibition to a close with a cracker of an event that spotlights the Old Library’s remarkable journey and the vibrant community that has shaped it.

We’ll have a performance from Claire Mooney, singer, songwriter, lifelong activist and local resident.

With a legacy spanning seven albums, Claire’s musical journey has resonated across the UK and beyond for more than four decades. Her songs tackle issues of injustice and peace, ranging from ending the mistreatment of women and girls to dispelling stigma surrounding HIV/Aids.

We’re incredibly excited to bring you a specially commissioned Levolution! song from Claire which she’ll be performing live.

We’ll also be screening a new specially commissioned film from Harp and a Monkey, the acclaimed music, storytelling, and arts collective.

For the past few months we’ve been speaking to local residents, collecting their recollections of our building. Harp and a Monkey have turned these memories into a short film narrative celebrating the history of our building, the fight to keep a library open in Levenshulme, and the togetherness our community stands for.

There will also be refreshments, a final chance to browse our Levolution! exhibition and some art activities to keep your little ones engaged and entertained.
