Levenshulme Old Library

Levenshulme Old Library CIO Response to Covid-19. Dated 18th March 2020

Updated information 16.4.2020: Building remains shut until further notice.

Following public health guidance about social distancing and avoiding large gatherings, we have taken the decision to cease public activities at Levenshulme Old Library building on Cromwell Grove.

Levenshulme Old Library is not open for drop-in by the public unless by prior arrangement.

All existing bookings are or have already been postponed in liaison with those running activities, unless special circumstances mean they shouldn’t cease. New bookings won’t be taken at this time unless there is clear community benefit and sufficient controls in place.

This is not a complete closure. ALLFM radio is continuing its broadcasting. Programme schedules may be disrupted but they will be sharing useful information and entertaining the community as usual. Likewise The Owl and The Coconut are moving its mindfulness and relaxation activities online wherever possible.

We will also be looking at providing services for community benefit remotely, and using the time to make improvements inside and outside the building and to plan for a successful re-opening in due course. Staff will be supported to work from home as much as possible.

The safety of vulnerable people is our priority.

As a small local charity we also ask our community to stand by Levenshulme Old Library. Like many local businesses or groups we will undoubtedly be feeling the effects of Covid-19 financially, and those maintaining our limited operations are demonstrating their commitment to our community.

By working together we are stronger.
