Membership – Levenshulme Old Library

We’re launching a new membership programme, one which aims to connect our community with our heritage, bring people  closer to the work we do, and give residents more opportunities to use Levenshulme Old Library to deliver the events and activities they want to see in their neighbourhood.

Members Mission Statement

We believe that art and culture enrich our lives. That through the arts we create expressions and connections that shape and build our communities.

Everyone should have the opportunity and resources to develop their personal creative potential. We want LOL to be a space where people can come together collaboratively to spark new ideas and projects. Where people can view art, hear stories, see theatre and be creative.

This looks different to different people. And whether it’s starting a journey with the arts or continuing one, we need a place for everyone.

We are a community space run by and for the community. Where everyone’s ideas and perspectives are not only valued and heard, but actively sought.

If you want to be part of this, join us, and become a member.

What is a member?

As a member you can be part of shaping what happens at Levenshulme Old Library.

You can be involved as much or as little as you like. Community arts should be fun and friendly. Membership is a way to get to know people, find supportive partnerships and feel part of something bigger. We’re all time poor but whatever you can do will make a difference:

  • get involved with decision making and participatory budgeting
  • help decide what happens in and to this heritage building
  • work on community engagement
  • help to develop the new creator space
  • run projects
  • submit motions to and vote at the AGM

Don’t have any time? You don’t have to be an active member, your membership fee will go into a members’ fund and enable others to do more.

How much does it cost?

Membership to Levenshulme Old Library is FREE – although we urge those who can afford to do so make a donation to help us continue our work. We receive no core funding and are run by a tiny yet enthusiastic team. We recommend a minimum donation of £5 but anything at all is always very welcome.

Want to know more?

We’ll be launching Levenshulme Old Library Memerbship at our AGM on Saturday 23rd September, 4-6pm. You can also find out more information by getting in touch.
