Lost Levenshulme

Lost Levenshulme is a creative history magazine produced by Levenshulme Old Library. It aims to uncover half-forgotten stories, overlooked landmarks and fragments of local lore, offering a sideways look at Levenshulme’s past and present.

The first issue, published in 2024, included:

  • An essay on the Levenshulme Landgrabbers, who reclaimed land for public use in the early 20th century
  • A piece on the disappearance of once-famous local novelist Frank Tilsley
  • A photo essay on Levyhenge, a mysterious man-made stone circle in Cringle Park
  • A personal meditation on ghost signs and fading traces of local businesses
  • A ghost story, Pipistrello, inspired by the pet cemetery in Highfield Country Park.

Issue 1 was published in a limited run of 300 copies and is now sold out, but you can be viewed online below.
