We’re starting something new at Levenshulme Old Library.
Roma Create Together is a series of free, relaxed creative sessions for Roma families – a space to spend time together, get creative, and share food in a welcoming environment. The programme has been developed in collaboration with Europia and builds on ongoing conversations about how the building can better reflect and support the communities around it.
These sessions are designed to be informal and flexible. There’s no need to arrive at the start time – families can drop in after school or at any point during the session. Each event is centred around a simple creative activity, often linked to seasonal traditions and celebrations, with food and refreshments provided.
Our first session is a Children’s Easter Crafts afternoon, where families can decorate wooden eggs, make their own Easter crafts, and take something home with them. Future sessions will include film screenings, guided creative workshops with visiting practitioners, and celebrations such as Romanian Blouse Day.

At its heart, Roma Create Together is about creating space – not just physically but also socially. A space where people feel comfortable spending time, where creativity is accessible, and where there’s room to connect, share experiences and build relationships. For many families, especially those for whom cultural provision isn’t traditionally widely available, having somewhere informal and welcoming to go can make a real difference.
This programme is part of our ongoing commitment to working with Roma families in Levenshulme and its neighbouring districts. That doesn’t just mean hosting activities, but thinking more carefully about how the building is used and who it feels like it’s for. And what we can do to support stronger connections between communities, organisations and local services.
Levenshulme Old Library has always been shaped by the people who use it. Roma Create Together is one step in making sure that continues – and that the space reflects the full range of communities that make up the neighbourhood.
We’ll be sharing more sessions soon. In the meantime, we’d love to welcome you along.
