Levenshulme Home Heating Workshop

Discover how to make your home heating more energy efficient, reduce carbon emissions and help combat the rise in energy prices. This Home Heating Workshop is divided into four, free sessions that are all about reducing the amount of heat needed to keep a house warm. We’re focusing on changes you can make yourself, right now, and how to tackle them.

Tickets are FREE and can be booked by using this Eventbrite link.

9-10am Beginner’s Guide to Retrofit

What do we mean when we talk about energy efficiency and retrofit? In this short, beginner’s guide we explore the ideas and concepts behind these terms, helping you get to grips with how you might reduce your energy bills, improve your property and make your home a little bit greener.

10.30-11.30am Using a Thermal Imaging Camera

This session will take you through the basics of how to use a thermal imaging camera on your home and help you to understand the strengths and limitations of using thermal imaging to search for areas of heat loss from the building. It will give you an opportunity to use a thermal imaging camera and give you the confidence to assess your own home.*

12-2pm DIY Draught-Proofing

OR

2.30-4.30pm DIY Draught-Proofing

Homes in Manchester are often draughty, cold and damp. It is surprising, when you start to look, where draughts sneak into our homes and where heat leaks out. In this hands-on, practical session we will learn how to find draughts, understand what materials and tools to use to tackle them, and have a go and sealing up some draughts. This session is appropriate for both homeowners and renters, with limited prior knowledge of home energy saving measures and a limited budget to make improvements.*

*As part of this project, we are donating a thermal imaging camera and three toolkits for draught-proofing and installing loft and under floor insulation to the Manchester Library of Things in Levenshulme. They will be available to hire for free for one year from the date of opening.

Tickets are free and can be booked by using this Eventbrite link.

This event will be delivered by award-winning energy services co-operative Carbon Co-op.
